XPENG and NIO ended the year with a bang. They both set new monthly sales records in December.
XPENG Sales Figures
XPENG rose to 36,695 deliveries in December, which was a whopping 82% increase over December 2023. That also meant the company ended the 4th quarter with 91,507 deliveries, a 52% increase over the 4th quarter of 2023. The December total was also a 19%
In 2024 as a whole, XPENG had 190,068 sales, which was a 34% increase year over year.
The company’s two newest models, the MONA M03 and the P7+, are the big drivers of XPENG’s growth now. The MONA M03 had more than 15,000 sales in December and the P7+ had more than 10,000 sales. “For the fourth consecutive month since its launch, deliveries of XPENG MONA M03 exceeded 10,000 units. The MONA M03 achieved its 50,000th vehicle production milestone in just four months since its launch, setting a new record for XPENG’s fastest production rollout and continuing to break delivery records for pure electric vehicle production among emerging automakers in China.”
In short, XPENG had an impressive month, and quarter. If you extrapolated out to 12 months, December’s delivery total would mean 440,340 annual sales. Of course, December is a big month and the Chinese New Year (coming up) depresses sales. So, we’ll just see where things go and see if XPENG can grow so impressively again in 2025.
NIO Sales Figures
As for NIO, it had 31,138 sales in December, a 72.9% increase over December 2023. That means its 4th quarter total came to 72,689 sales, a 45.2% increase over the 4th quarter of 2023. Those figures may not be as good as XPENG’s, but they’re extremely strong growth figures that any company would be proud to share.
In 2024 as a whole, NIO had 221,970 sales (the metric where NIO finally beats XPENG), which was a 38.7% increase year over year (again, a slightly bigger growth rate than XPENG had).
NIO’s big boost in 2024 came from its new ONVO brand. 20,610 of the company’s December sales came from its NIO brand, while ONVO boosted that with 10,528 sales.
Cumulatively, NIO has now reached 671,564 sales. If you extrapolate its 31,138 deliveries in December across 12 months, that would be 373,656 annual sales. In other words, that would increase NIO’s cumulative total by more than 50% and would bring the company solidly over 1 million sales. Let’s see if NIO can achieve that notable feat in 2025.
