VinFast Philippines and Motech Automotive Service Center have formalized a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a service network for VinFast electric vehicles. This collaboration is in line with the Vietnamese EV maker’s strategic commitment to fostering green transportation in the region — not just to serve its private customers, but also to prepare for the adoption of the planned green taxi network.

CleanTechnica sources at VinFast Philippines say that Motech was selected because of its large footprint in the country — with 63 service outlets from Tuguegarao in north Luzon, a concentration in Metro Manila, up to Bicol on the tip of south Luzon, in major cities in the Visayas, and with several branches on Mindanao — making the partnership strategic to VinFast’s goal of setting up 100 service centers across the country.

These centers will provide comprehensive repair, warranty, and maintenance services for VinFast EVs. Our source added that Motech’s existing service workshops will be upgraded to meet VinFast’s standards for facilities, equipment, and personnel, as well as stocking of genuine services and parts. VinFast will also provide personnel training and technical advisory support to facilitate the rapid integration of Motech’s network, a critical step considering the anticipated growth in VinFast electric vehicle adoption.

Motech was founded in 1977 in Angeles City, Pampanga, and now has a customer base of over 300,000. It provides a range of standard car repair services, including maintenance, brake, suspension, clutch, battery, and tire services. The collaboration will also explore further business opportunities, information sharing, and joint marketing initiatives related to electric vehicle after-sales services across Southeast Asia.

“Motech is thrilled to partner with VinFast as an authorized service provider for their electric vehicles in the Philippines. Confident in VinFast’s potential within the Southeast Asian market, Motech looks forward to this collaboration to support the growing EV market and to continue to deliver exceptional customer experience,” Johann Rommel Naguiat, President and CEO of Motech Automotive Philippines, said in a press statement.

“Leveraging Motech’s strong reputation, experience, and extensive service network, we aim to provide Filipino customers with peace of mind and satisfaction, aligning with VinFast’s core principles of high-quality vehicles, inclusive pricing, and outstanding after-sales policy. We are confident this partnership will simplify EV ownership and usage, empowering customers to join the global movement towards green transportation,” Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, said.

“Further, this partnership between VinFast and Motech, a first of its kind in the Philippines, helps the Philippine market embrace the change to greener mobility, by answering the issue of not only range anxiety, but that of the issue of service anxiety as well. With Motech’s network of stores and the reputation it has built in its communities, VinFast customers can drive with confidence, that their VinFast vehicle will be well cared for, anywhere at anytime,” Motech’s Naguiat added.

VinFast’s entry into the Philippine market in 2024, marked by the introduction of its electric vehicle models, has been accompanied by a continuous expansion of both its sales and after-sales network. The company’s strategy of partnering with established service providers aims to optimize its Philippine operations and strengthen brand recognition.

VinFast’s regional vision, “For a Green Future,” focuses on building a comprehensive electric vehicle ecosystem, including the expansion of charging infrastructure, leveraging the success achieved in Vietnam.
