Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer VinFast announced on Tuesday the nationwide expansion of its green transformation incentives and an ambitious plan to deploy 150,000 battery-swapping stations across the country.

The company is timing the launch of the battery swapping stations on September 9, Vietnam’s National Day, as part of its third-phase “Mighty Spirit of Vietnam — For a Green Future” campaign.

The company said it will extend its special green transformation policy, previously limited to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and An Giang province, to all 34 Vietnamese provinces and cities. The policy offers a 4% discount on listed vehicle prices, with additional interest rate subsidies for financed purchases.

Massive Battery-Swapping Infrastructure

VinFast’s most ambitious initiative involves creating what it claims will be the country’s largest refueling network through battery-swapping stations. The company plans to install the first 1,000 stations in October 2025, expand to 50,000 by year-end, and complete the full 150,000-station network within three years.

The battery-swapping system will use removable 1.5 kWh battery packs housed in two-compartment units. Customers can rent batteries for 200,000 VND ($8.20) per month each, with swapping fees of 9,000 VND ($0.37) per exchange, including electricity costs. Each battery provides approximately 85 kilometers of range under standard conditions.

VinFast said the energy cost per kilometer will be significantly lower than gasoline-powered vehicles for equivalent distances.

New Scooter Models

The company plans to launch battery-swapping versions of its existing scooter lineup, starting with the Evo Max in October 2025, priced at 20 million VND ($820). Three additional models will follow: the Feliz Max (24.9 million VND / $1,020), Verox Max (33.9 million VND / $1,390), and Drift Max (39.9 million VND / $1,640).

VinFast will continue offering traditional models with built-in batteries for customers preferring to own their power systems outright and charge at home.

The company is also partnering with dealers nationwide for a “Green Festival — Trade in Your Gas Car, Upgrade to a Green Car” promotion, offering discounts up to 100 million VND ($4,100) for customers switching from gasoline to electric vehicles, with the maximum discount applicable to the VF 9 model.

VinFast positioned the initiatives as supporting government goals to accelerate Vietnam’s transition from gasoline to electric transportation while creating what it calls a “green transportation ecosystem.”

New Pricing Schemes

Customers financing personal vehicle purchases will receive a 3% annual interest rate subsidy, while those buying vehicles for commercial use through VinFast’s Xanh SM Platform will get a 4% annual subsidy. Both subsidies will remain in effect for three years.

For electric scooters, VinFast is offering a 10% immediate price discount. Personal buyers can finance up to 80% of the vehicle price with only a 10% down payment, while commercial buyers through the Xanh SM Platform can finance up to 90% with no initial down payment. The company also guarantees a fixed 90% revenue share for commercial users over three years.

The automaker plans to waive registration fees for all electric scooter purchases made between August 21 and December 31, 2025. Additionally, VinFast will provide free charging at all V-Green public stations until June 30, 2027 for cars and May 31, 2027 for scooters.
