The Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) was on hand at the annual Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) convention in Toronto to discuss the state’s critical minerals potential.
The PDAC convention brought together over 20,000 attendees from over 130 countries from March 3–6 to discuss all things related to the minerals industry.
The 2024 PDAC convention provided an opportunity to showcase Victoria’s mineral sand deposits containing titanium, zirconium and rare earth elements, alongside other critical mineral investment opportunities, to the world.
The GSV attended the convention as part of the Australia Minerals delegation – a national collaboration of Australia’s Federal, State and Territory Government geoscience agencies.
“Resources Victoria had two geoscientists at PDAC, bolstering the presence of active Victorian-based mineral explorers and suppliers, promoting Victoria’s geoscience, minerals and services” GSV acting director Grant Clarke said.
The convention provided the GSV delegates with a platform to promote Victoria’s critical mineral and gold development opportunities as well as the state’s tole in the transition to net-zero.
“Our team made some outstanding connections in the industry from across the globe,” Clarke said.
“We look forward to maintaining those connections to strengthen our critical minerals sector and contribute to achieving Victoria’s climate change goals.”
