Versatile storage for remote mining sites

Mining operations demand reliable, rugged, and space-conscious equipment. Whether you’re operating in a remote exploration camp or managing materials at an active production site, every tool and container must be optimised for safety, efficiency, and longevity.

The foldable pallet bin, also known as the Eco-OzCrate-2 from EcoPallets meets these demands head-on – offering a purpose-built solution that enhances logistics and site operations across the mining value chain.

From its durable materials to its collapsible design, the Eco-OzCrate 2 was built to assist with the requirements of mine site facilities and stores.

Built for versatility

The Eco-OzCrate 2 is not a generic bin, it’s a durable and adaptable container designed to serve multiple roles across mining operations.

“We recognised the industry’s strong familiarity with fixed, solid-sided bins, so creating a model that closely mirrored existing designs and payloads was a key focus throughout our R&D (research and development) process.” Ecopallets managing director Matt Logan said.

With a generous 750L internal volume and robust weight capacity, it can handle a wide variety of site requirements, including:

  • holding and moving spare parts, equipment, and tools within camps or warehouses
  • storing personal protective equipment (PPE), supplies, or lubricants in field workshops
  • temporary storage for damaged equipment, used and/or contaminated safety gear for disposal
  • keeping safety and emergency gear like spill kits and first-aid on site

Its ability to seamlessly shift between storage and transport tasks makes it especially useful in dynamic mining environments where space, mobility, and durability are critical.

Strength meets space efficiency

“Our second-generation foldable Australian-sized crates have been engineered to perform reliably across a broad range of temperature extremes.” Logan said.

The Eco-OzCrate 2 is built from a durable mix of virgin PP/HDPE (polypropylene/high-density polyethylene).

“By developing a custom co-polymer blend of HDPE and PP, we’ve ensured they are equally suited for use in cool rooms and high-heat environments.” Logan said.

“Transport costs are a major challenge, and available space – especially during return logistics – is always at a premium.”

The Eco-OzCrate 2 is foldable for efficiency. Its 3:1 folding ratio reduces its height from 785mm to just 299mm.

“Our foldable bins address this issue with a high fold-down ratio, significantly reducing their footprint when not in use.” Matt said.

“This means more units per truck, lower transport costs, and more efficient use of valuable storage and freight space – an advantage for remote operations.”

The Eco-OzCrate 2 is more than a bulk container, it’s a solution that adapts to the real challenges of the mining sector.

With its durable materials, heavy-duty load handling, and space-saving design, it helps mining companies move smarter, store safer, and operate more efficiently in even the harshest environments.
