Several years ago, Total Rockbreaking Solutions (TRS) launched BoomSafe®, a purpose-built control system that optimises the performance and safety of fixed pedestal boom systems. Now, TRS continues to raise the bar with new features that enhance visibility, efficiency and safety in demanding mining environments, it says.
BoomSafe is a leading boom control system that delivers a full suite of automation capabilities. Its customisable controls allow operators to finetune speed, direction and acceleration to meet site-specific requirements, the company says. Features such as one-button functions (Park, Deploy, Tool Replacement, Hammer Change, intelligent geofencing for safe working envelopes and remote operation from centralised workstation have already made BoomSafe the boom control system of choice across multiple installations, according to TRS.
Last year, TRS introduced the BoomSafe On-Board Camera – the first of its kind for fixed pedestal boom systems.
“This innovation provides real-time vision of the hydraulic hammer, giving operators unparalleled visibility of tool placement when breaking oversize in crushers and dump pockets resulting in safer and more efficient navigation of boom operations,” Paul Ingleson, Engineering Manager at TRS, says.
TRS has also programmed BoomSafe to integrate seamlessly with Steelwrist fully automatic quick couplers, enabling automated attachment changes at the press of a button.
In crushing plants where downtime is costly, this feature eliminates the need for manual hose disconnections, unlocking pins or bleeding the system. Operators can now switch between attachments such as hammers without any manual effort from the operator. The result is faster, safer transitions between attachments, minimising leakages and pressure drops.
Benefits of BoomSafe and Steelwrist Integration:
- Automated switching: Fast, seamless attachment changes maintain high productivity;
- Increased safety: Manual intervention is eliminated, reducing risk of injury; and
- Improved efficiency: No need to manually close valves or purge for trapped gases, saving valuable time
Visitors to IMARC 2025 in Sydney (October 21-23) will have the opportunity to experience BoomSafe technology in action at the TRS stand. A live demo will allow attendees to remotely operate a boom system in Perth – showcasing real-world advantages, including the cutting-edge On-Board Camera integration.
