Total Rockbreaking Solutions (TRS) have raised the bar in the performance and safety of rockbreaking operation control with the launch of two new safety features.
TRS transformed the market a few years ago with the launch of BoomSafe, a purpose-built control system that optimises the performance and safety of fixed pedestal boom systems – but are continuing to enhance innovation in visibility, efficiency and safety in demanding mining environments.
BoomSafe is an industry-leading boom control system that delivers a full suite of automation capabilities. Its customisable controls allow operators to fine-tune speed, direction and acceleration to meet site-specific requirements.
The new features to their already established control system include an on-board camera – described as the first of its kind for fixed pedestal boom systems – and automated attachment changes technology.
Features such as one-button functions, such as ‘park’ and ‘deploy’, intelligent geofencing for safe working envelopes and remote operation from centralised workstation have already made BoomSafe the boom control system of choice across multiple installations.
The BoomSafe on-board camera was introduced last year and provides real-time vision of the hydraulic hammer, giving operators unparalleled visibility of tool placement when breaking oversize in crushers and dump pockets. The result is safer and more efficient navigation of boom operations.
TRS has also programmed BoomSafe to integrate seamlessly with Steelwrist fully automatic quick couplers, enabling automated attachment changes at the press of a button.
In crushing plants where downtime is costly, this feature eliminates the need for manual hose disconnections, unlocking pins or bleeding the system. Operators can now switch between attachments such as hammers without any manual effort from the operator.
The result is faster, safer transitions between attachments, minimising leakages and pressure drops.
The technology is being showcased at the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC) in Sydney in October (stand G31) where delegates can remotely operate a boom system based in Perth – showcasing the real-world advantages of the technology.
IMARC is where the most influential people in mining come together, deliver ideas and inspiration and will be held October 21-23 at ICC Sydney.
