The World Mining Congress 2026 (WMC 2026) has successfully closed its call for technical abstract submissions, receiving 660 proposals from 38 countries across five continents.

The response confirms the event’s global reach and its role as a leading platform for innovation and knowledge exchange in the mining industry, organisers say.

The highest number of submissions came from Peru (290), followed by Brazil (50), Australia (43), Canada (38), Chile (36) and the US (34). These figures highlight the leadership of the Americas and Oceania in generating technical knowledge, along with the active participation of European and Asian countries such as China, India, Japan, Germany and Poland, they added.

The most popular topics were “Mining Science & Innovation”, “AI & Data-Driven Decision Making” and “Process Innovation, Circularity & Recovery”, all reflecting the industry’s growing emphasis on efficiency, digitalisation and sustainability for the mining of the future.
