CAOEC joins other industry leaders in celebrating the completion of the long-awaited pipeline expansion. The pipeline will increase Canada’s export capacity and reduce the price differential on Western Canadian Select (WCS).
“The Trans Mountain pipeline expansion provides a crucial piece of infrastructure for securing Canada’s energy future and will not only increase activity for our members in the drilling and service rig sector, but also create more middle-class jobs in rural, remote, and Indigenous communities,” said Mark Scholz, President & CEO of CAOEC. “However, we need to keep building. Canada’s capacity to deliver sustainable energy is unmatched, and the federal government needs to reevaluate its policy approach so that large-scale projects for energy egress can get built quicker.”
Viewing the TMX as an important learning opportunity, Scholz states, “Canadians shouldn’t have to wait another thirteen years for the next project of this economic importance to be built. The federal government needs to learn from its experience with the TMX and improve the process, so that private investors with private dollars can maximize Canada’s ability to provide safe and reliable energy that the world needs.”
