Stress Engineering Services Canada is Pleased to Introduce Roger Chen – Canadian Energy News, Top Headlines, Commentaries, Features & Events – EnergyNow

We at Stress Engineering Services Canada (SESC) are known for our technical expertise. In line with our steadfast commitment to technical excellence and delivering exceptional service to our valued clients, we are delighted to introduce Roger Chen.

Roger’s primary focus is advanced stress analysis and fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments of pressure vessels and pipelines per API 579-1-ASME FFS-1, ASME VIII Div 2, BS 7910, CSA Z662 and API 1104. His pipeline experience includes specialized analyses such as pipe-in-pipe, hot excavation, buckling (local and global) and strain-based assessments. His FFS experience is not limited to plastic collapse (e.g., from wall thinning), but extends to Level 3 fracture assessments (including hydrogen induced cracking (HIC)) and fatigue assessments (S-N, strain life, fracture mechanics-based).

As a registered Professional Engineer in Alberta, Roger brings not only a wealth of experience and expertise to our team, but his exceptional critical thinking and strong grasp of fundamentals enable him to solve non-routine problems. He holds a PhD and MASc in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, where he developed efficient methods for modelling stress corrosion crack (SCC) interaction and investigated possibilities for reducing conservatism in pipeline crack assessment using the failure assessment diagram (FAD) method.

We are confident that Roger’s proficiency will be a valuable asset in addressing your fitness-for-service and other non-routine challenges. His dedication to comprehending unique requirements ensures tailored solutions that align with your specific objectives and expectations.

At SESC, we are committed to providing unparalleled support and technical guidance to the industry. Roger’s skills and assets strengthen our ability to continue delivering the highest quality service. If you have any questions or wish to discuss upcoming projects with Roger, please feel free to contact us. We look forward to fostering a strong working relationship with you and ensuring your fitness-for-service needs are met with excellence.
