Over time, equipment integrity can degrade due to factors such as, corrosion (wall thinning), and mechanical damage. In such cases, repair or alteration becomes necessary to restore the equipment to its originally intended safe design margin condition. The scope of these repairs or alterations is outlined in procedures that can be submitted to regulatory bodies for acceptance and registration, confirming the safety of the modified equipment.
