Podium Minerals has a new chief financial officer, with Ben Newton recently appointed to the key position.
He replaces Justine Lea, who has moved to a part-time strategic operations role within the company.
Newton brings extensive strategic financial leadership experience across listed and privately-owned organisations in the mining, energy, and offshore services industries. His most recent roles include stints with Barrick Mining’s Porgera gold mine in Papua New Guinea, the Pacific Hotel Group, and Osaka Gas.
Executive chairman Rod Baxter said the new recruit boasted significant expertise and track record in equity raisings, stakeholder engagement, and financial management.
“Ben is a highly regarded executive whose skills and experience will help maintain the substantial momentum established over the past two years,” he said.
“I am confident that Ben will play a key role in driving the next phase of our Parks Reef project and supporting our strategy to become Australia’s leading platinum group metals (PGM) producer.”
Baxter also paid tribute to Lea, who held the role for over three years.
“Since joining Podium in September 2022, Justine has played a pivotal role in strengthening our financial management and governance,” he said. “For the last two years her leadership and energy within our executive team has been instrumental in progressing key project milestones and delivering strategic corporate opportunities, all during a period of challenging PGM market conditions.”
