AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS — At NIO’s avante garde showroom at the iconic Metz Building the cars designed by Kris Tomasson contrast perfectly with facade of the building and complement its shiny interiors.

As the third quarter of 2025 drew to a close, NIO Inc. cemented its accelerating global momentum, announcing a record-breaking month for vehicle deliveries while simultaneously executing a significant expansion of its multi-brand strategy across the competitive European continent.

In September 2025, the smart electric vehicle manufacturer achieved a new monthly peak, delivering 34,749 vehicles. This delivery number represented a robust 64.1% increase year-over-year, showcasing the traction of its diversified product portfolio. The sales success was distributed across the company’s three distinct brands: the core premium NIO brand contributed 13,728 units, the family-oriented ONVO brand led the monthly count with 15,246 deliveries, and the small, high-end firefly brand added 5,775 units.

This performance pushed the company’s cumulative global deliveries to an impressive 872,785 vehicles by the end of September.

Starting in June

This significant production ramp-up provides a powerful financial backdrop to the company’s ambitious and rapidly evolving European expansion plan.

Viewing Europe as a core pillar of its global strategy, NIO announced on June 17th that it would enter five additional countries between 2025 and 2026. Recognizing the benefits of local expertise and established networks, NIO is shifting to a hybrid multi-channel approach, relying on distribution partners in these new markets while maintaining its existing direct-to-consumer model elsewhere.

The expansion will see the introduction of a comprehensive fleet from both the NIO and firefly brands. The premium NIO lineup includes the EL6 smart electric SUV, the spacious EL8 luxury six-seat SUV, the mid-size ET5 sedan, and the versatile ET5 Touring wagon. This will be complemented by the firefly brand’s small, intelligent electric vehicle, tailored specifically for urban users. All vehicles leverage NIO’s proprietary software and hardware platforms, featuring advanced intelligent driving capabilities and the NOMI AI assistant.

Collaborations

NIO has strategically selected experienced partners for the rollout, with deliveries scheduled to commence in 2025. In Portugal, the company will collaborate with the JAP Group, a mobility provider with over 120 years of automotive expertise.

For Greece, the partnership will be with the Motodynamics Group starting in 2025, with an extension of this cooperation covering Cyprus and Bulgaria from 2026. Distribution in Denmark will also transition to this model, utilizing the Nic. Christiansen Group, a leading mobility provider in Scandinavia, as the general distributor for its brands.

This latest move builds on the strategic momentum established earlier in June, when NIO announced similar distribution partnerships for seven other European markets, including Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, and Poland for 2025 and 2026. By placing user experience, flexibility, and service excellence at the core of its strategy—a reflection of its “User Enterprise DNA”—NIO is positioning itself to sustainably scale its operations and bring its advanced electric mobility ecosystem to a wider European audience.
