New operations leader for Spartan Resources

Spartan Resources has appointed Craig Jones as its new chief operating officer.

Jones is a mining engineer who has more than 28 years’ experience working in West Australian underground hard-rock mining operations.

Prior to joining Spartan, Jones was the chief executive officer (CEO) of Poseidon Nickel. He departed the company in March.

Jones has also held senior roles in leadership, operations, mine management and business development for various mining companies including Bellevue Gold and Northern Star Resources.

“On behalf of the Spartan team and its shareholders I am very pleased to welcome Craig aboard as we define our high-grade resources and lay the foundations for a profitable longlife mining operation at Dalgaranga,” Spartan managing director and CEO Simon Lawson said.

“Craig’s proven operational track record and experience in establishing high-quality teams and delivering significant project outcomes is a perfect fit for Spartan as we begin to plan our future as a high-grade, low-cost gold mining company.

“I know Craig will expertly guide the optimal development and production pathway at Dalgaranga while our exploration efforts continue in parallel to deliver further growth in the high-grade resource inventory.”

Jones says he is pleased to be joining Spartan and looks forward to capitalising on the growth at Dalgaranga.

“Spartan Resources has established itself as a high performing and dedicated team who have already taken on the world and won,” Jones said.

“It’s an absolute privilege to be joining the Spartan leadership team as the chief operating officer and I look forward to working alongside Simon and the team on the path to further growth and future profitable production.”
