Legacy Iron Ore chief executive officer (CEO) Rakesh Gupta has resigned after 10 years in the role.
Since joining the company in 2015, Gupta has overseen its transition from a gold explorer to a gold producer through its Mt Celia gold project, situated 40km south of AngloGold Ashanti’s Sunrise Dam gold mine in Western Australia.
“On behalf of my fellow directors and shareholders I’d like to thank Rakesh for his contribution to the company and wish him well in his future endeavours,” Legacy Iron Ore non-executive chairman Amitava Mukherjee said.
Replacing Gupta is Ranajit Das, who is currently principal mining engineer for Incitec Pivo’s life of mine (LOM) projects. In this role, Das extends the LOM projects to include new expansion projects into the reserves.
With over 30 years’ experience in Australia, Das has also worked on several consultancy projects including optimisation, LOM scheduling and pit design.
Das will join Legacy Iron Ore on July 1, with the company’s head of mining and exploration to act as interim CEO in the meantime.
“We also welcome Dr Das as chief executive officer and look forward to working with him as we continue to develop the company’s projects,” Mukherjee said.
Legacy Iron Ore has also appointed Ben Donovan as a non-executive director, taking effect immediately.
Donovan holds experience in capital markets, having raised money and assisted numerous companies on achieving an initial ASX listing.
“I also welcome the appointment of Ben to the board following his service to the company as company secretary,” Mukherjee said.
