Mineral Mining Services says it has been awarded a key mining services contract with Tennant Mining for the restart of its Nobles project in Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory of Australia.
This project marks a significant milestone in the revitalisation of one of Australia’s most historic goldfields, MMS says.
The first phase of the Nobles operations includes processing up to 60,000 oz/y of gold from existing stockpiles, before expanding to a series of open-pit and underground mines, with plans to increase production to around 100,000 oz/y over the medium term. The current mine life is forecast at eight years, with plans to extend beyond 15 years, and further into the future.
MMS says it will play a crucial role in bringing the area back into production, supporting Tennant Mining’s strategic relocation of its processing mill to the project site. This restart of gold mining is timed to leverage the strong current gold price, representing an exciting new chapter for the Northern Territory.
Under the contract, MMS will provide comprehensive mining services, mining three pits to a maximum depth of 90 m below surface. This will involve cutting back the historic Nobles Nob pit as well as commencing two new pits on the Weebers and Rising Sun deposits. The scope involves moving a total of 2.7 Mt of material. The project will employ approximately 70 people, predominantly out of the Northern Territory.
MMS says it has already commenced mobilisation of its mining fleet to the Northern Territory, ensuring a swift and efficient start to the project.
Chris Mardon, Operations Manager at MMS, said: “We are incredibly excited to be working with Tennant Mining on a project of such significance. Revitalising the Tennant Creek goldfields after 20 years is a landmark undertaking, and our team is proud to be on the ground making it happen. Our rapid mobilisation demonstrates our commitment, and we are fully focused on delivering a safe and productive restart at the Nobles project.”
This contract represents a strategic expansion of MMS’s services into the Northern Territory and underscores the company’s capability in executing significant mining projects across Australia.
