Mining leaders making moves

A coal boss is moving on and a Newcrest Mining corporate alumnus is stepping up to a new role.

Australian Pacific Coal

Australian Pacific Coal (AQC) chair and director Mike Ryan is stepping down ahead of the company’s Dartbrook mine in New South Wales reaching first production.

Non-executive director John Robinson will fill the chair role and executive director and interim chief executive officer (CEO) Ayten Saridas will be moving up to managing director and chief executive officer.

“We would like to thank Mr Ryan for his dedication and insight, particularly in relation to capital markets, which has proven to be invaluable over the past 18 months and we wish him well in his future endeavours,” Robinson said on behalf of the AQC board.

“We also congratulate Ms Saridas on her appointment as managing director and chief executive officer.

“Her achievements as interim CEO have been considerable and we look forward to AQC’s next phase of growth under her leadership.”

SSH Group

Mining engineer Cullum Winn has been engaged by SSH Group to bring his 30 years’ experience with mining majors like Newcrest, Westgold, KCGM, and Barrick Gold to a new role.

SSH is in the process of identifying projects and establishing partnerships to drive the expansion of its mining services.

Winn’s experience encompasses early mine planning through to start-up and full mine production management.

SHH managing director Daniel Cowley-Cooper said Winn’s appointment will help accelerate that effort.

“Mr Winn’s appointment will significantly enhance the company’s capabilities and help drive our strategic push for growth in the mining sector,” Cowley-Cooper said.

“SSH Group is pursing growth in the mining sector with both existing Tier 1 mines and development projects.

“We are especially focused on creating value accretive project partnerships and bespoke service offerings for mid-tier and junior miners to help unlock opportunities for all.”
