Metso bolsters global customer service

Metso’s services certification program is enriching the abilities of the company’s field service and technical support teams, enhancing customer service for various heavy industries.

Launched in 2021, Metso’s services certification program was designed and is managed by the Metso Academy, which manages the company’s technical and product trainings for employees and customers.

The program provides structured training to refine skills and proficiency by standardising the work of its service experts, ensuring consistent and high-quality support globally.

The program also aims to address customer needs through the combination of maintenance support and process knowledge.

“People are Metso’s greatest assets, and investing in their continuous development not only improves their expertise but also enables us to magnify customers’ experience,” Metso Academy vice president Kalle Koskiluoto said.

“By ensuring that our personnel have undergone the intensive services certification training, Metso is committed to earning and growing our customers’ trust in our service delivery.”

The program has been designed for employees that perform service activities at customer sites, comprising planned modules targeting specific technologies, a comprehensive curriculum of training courses, practical training, and rigorous assessments to confirm the knowledge and competency of employees.

“The need for competence development is constantly visible in the industry,” Metso training operations director Nichole Pritchard said.

“Metso Academy has identified that need, and we have been engaging our customers and partners in developing learning programs. All certification program courses have technology specific safety elements embedded in them and all certified employees are required to complete Metso’s safety courses.

“We focus on fostering a culture of quality and reliability.”

Metso has a global service network made up of over 3000 field services professionals, technical support resources, and over 40 service centres across six continents.

Between 2021 and 2024, the Metso Academy certified more than 600 individuals with approximately 1000 certifications.
