Drilling at Meeka Metals’ St Anne’s prospect within the Murchison gold project in Western Australia has intersected bonanza gold.
Reverse circulation (RC) drilling at St Anne’s intersected 23m at 26.73 grams per tonne (g/t) of gold from 38m, 14m at 7.50g/t from 59m and 7m at 7.84g/t from 29m.
These intersections extend the high-grade zone to the north of prior drilling and support an expanded oxide open pit at St Anne’s North.
“This is some of the highest grades we have seen from St Anne’s and will result in the Stage 1 open pit being expanded to the north where hole 24SAGC002 intersected a 10m zone of bonanza gold grading nearly two ounces per tonne,” Meeka managing director Tim Davidson said.
“Further assays are expected in January 2025 from the remaining 96 holes drilled during the December 2024 quarter. Drilling remains ongoing.”
Major activities in January are underway, including the construction of a 20km haul road between the processing plant and the opening pit mining centre, along with an upgrade and refurbishment of the processing plant.
This month will see grade control drilling of shallow, high-grade oxide starter pits at Turnberry and St Anne’s to accelerate production and improve productivity, as well as drilling depth extensions below the Turnberry open pits.
January will also see services to the Andy Well underground mine re-established as commissioning of the accommodation village and administrative infrastructure gets underway.
February will see new administration and support facilities built at the Turnberry mining centre and an open pit mining fleet mobilised.
Meeka plans to commence open pit mining in February, with processing plant commissioning to follow, along with the drilling of depth extensions at Andy Well from underground drill platforms in June.
First gold is targeted for mid-2025.
