IGO has welcomed a new company secretary, while Grange Resources’ new chief executive officer has officially commenced his role.
IGO
Rebecca Gordon has joined IGO as company secretary.
Gordon is an experienced company secretary and lawyer who holds expertise and skills in legal matters and advice, compliance, and corporate governance functions in Australian and international companies.
Gordon joins IGO from Fortescue, where they worked for more than seven years. Gordon’s most recent role at Fortescue was company secretary – group subsidiaries and legal manager.
Gordon replaced Joanne McDonald, another IGO company secretary.
“Ms McDonald has been with IGO for more than eight years and the board sincerely thanks her for her significant contribution to the company’s growth and wishes her well in her future endeavours,” IGO said.
IGO chief legal officer Kate Barker will continue as the company’s joint company secretary and Marcelo Bastos commenced his tenure as non-executive director at IGO on July 1.
IGO has also revealed it’s likely to record an impairment against certain nickel assets for the 2023–24 financial year (FY24) following its detailed review of its portfolio of exploration tenement holdings and land positions.
The review commenced amid challenges caused by weakening nickel and lithium prices globally. IGO said the review focuses on rationalising the portfolio and ensuring its resources are allocated to targets most prospective for commercial success.
“While the determination of the final impairment value is incomplete, and will be subject to audit review, IGO expects the impairment range of exploration assets to be between $275 million and $295 million for the full year,” IGO said.
“The impairment relates to the revaluation of the Silver Knight and Mount Goode nickel exploration assets as well as the broader exploration portfolio rationalisation.”
Grange Resources
Weidong Wang has officially commenced his role as chief executive officer of Grange Resources, one of Australia’s leading iron ore pellet producers.
Wang has over 30 years’ experience in management, engineering and project delivery in the steel industry.
Wang has previously held high-level positions such as deputy general manager at Northeast Special Steel Group Co, assistant to the chairman and director of technical improvement department at Jiangsu Shagang Group.
Wang’s appointment was first announced in May. Wang replaces Honglin Zhao, who was chief executive officer and on the board of directors.
Zhao has retired from his positions at Grange Resources.
“The board would like to thank Mr Zhao for his service to the company over the past decade and wish him well in his retirement,” Grange Resources said.
