Mineral Resources (MinRes) independent non-executive director Justin Langer has resigned from his position, citing his senior coaching positions that require him to be overseas for extended periods of time.
Langer first joined the MinRes board as an independent non-executive director in January 2023. He served as a member of MinRes’ nomination, remuneration and people, sustainability, and ethics and governance committees.
Outside of MinRes, Langer has been a member of the board of the West Coast Eagles Football Club since 2017 and is a Seven Network international cricket commentator and The West Australian columnist.
In July 2023, Langer was named head coach of the Lucknow Super Giants in the Indian Premier League and was appointed head coach of London Spirit in the UK’s The Hundred competition in 2025.
Following his MinRes departure on August 6, Langer is prepping to commence his first season at the helm of London Spirit.
“It has been a privilege to serve on the MinRes board during a period of significant challenges and change for the company,” Langer said.
“MinRes is a strong and resilient business with a high-performance culture. I have been inspired by the dedication, passion and commitment of its people.
“With my expanding commitments both in Australia and overseas, I am not in a position to continue to give the time and focus that I believe MinRes deserves. I thank (MinRes managing director) Chris Ellison and the board for their understanding of my position and I look forward to observing MinRes enter its next chapter.”
Replacing Langer on MinRes’ remuneration and people committee is Ross Carroll.
Ellison thanked Langer for the “valuable contribution” he made during his MinRes tenure.
“His passion and willingness to share his experience has had a truly positive impact on the business,” Ellison said.
“He made it a priority to visit many of our sites across Western Australia, meeting with frontline employees and hearing firsthand what matters most to the people who drive our success.
“Justin brought insights that will continue to shape the way we think about our people. I wish him the best as he continues his distinguished career.”
