Liontown Resources has produced more than 10,000 tonnes of spodumene concentrate at the Kathleen Valley lithium project in Western Australia since hitting first production, with the first shipment scheduled for September.
The lithium producer said the concentrate produced thus far has a weighted average grade of 5.2 per cent lithium oxide (Li2O), with all key parameters meeting or exceeding expectations.
The stockpile of concentrate is currently split between site and port, with about half of the stockpile already located at the port.
The remaining concentrate stockpiled at Kathleen Valley will be gradually transported to the port ahead of the first shipment anticipated for the end of September.
“Reaching significant levels of concentrate stockpiles at Kathleen Valley, with a weighted average grade of 5.2 per cent Li2O, is another remarkable achievement for our team and the plant design, especially considering it’s only one month since we announced first production,” Liontown managing director and chief executive officer Tony Ottaviano said.
The logistics chain at Kathleen Valley is fully commissioned, with the project’s concentrate storage facility, road transport and port shed operational ahead of the scheduled first shipment.
Ottaviano said the successful mobilisation of Liontown’s logistics chain and site facilities underscores its dedication to operational excellence.
“As we eagerly anticipate our first shipment, scheduled for September, this progress positions us on the cusp of revenue generation, reinforcing our dedication to enhancing shareholder value,” he said.
“We remain confident in the continued success and growth of the Kathleen Valley project.”
