A total 72,516 pounds (lbs) of uranium were produced at Boss’ Honeymoon project in South Australia in July and August. A recent key milestone is expected to take that number even higher.
The commissioning of a second NIMCIX column is currently underway at the project, which Boss managing director Duncan Craib believes will set the mine up to reach its 850,000lbs production target for the 2024–25 financial year (FY25).
“We continue to meet or exceed all of our key targets and are comfortably on track to meet our production guidance,” Craib said.
“The first IX circuit is now operating at nameplate capacity, proving that the technology works at the rate and scale forecast in the feasibility study. This is a pivotal point in the project’s development.”
NIMCIX loading and elution columns are essential for Boss’ ion exchange (IX) circuit.
Boss has previously said that the adoption of IX technology is central to the project’s processing plant, and will enable highly efficient capture, concentration, and purification of uranium from the wellfields.
The NIMCIX production column two has been constructed with hydrotesting completed, and is on target for production this month.
“Commissioning of the second IX circuit is underway and construction of the third is advancing rapidly,” Craib said.
“Supplies of the pregnant leach solution, grades and extraction rates are meeting or exceeding our targets and overall uranium production rates are rising in line with the schedules in the feasibility study.”
Construction of NIMCIX column three on target for commissioning and production by the end of the year.
