NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Many of the global steel industry’s senior leaders are traveling to New York City in late June for the inaugural Global Steel Dynamics Forum, an executive-level conference being organized by the Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) and World Steel Dynamics (WSD).
Set for June 26-28, 2023, the Global Steel Dynamics Forum leverages AIST’s international membership and technical know-how and WSD’s worldwide clientele and strategic insights, focusing on the economic trends and technological developments that are rapidly changing steel production and energy generation.
Attendees will hear from C-level executives at many of North America’s major steel producers, including Nucor Corp., Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., Steel Dynamics Inc., Commercial Metals Company, Ternium, ArcelorMittal, Stelco Inc. and SSAB Americas. The agenda is reinforced with international perspectives from POSCO and Gerdau, as well as EUROFER and the World Steel Association, among others.
Additionally, U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, chairman of the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and U.S. Rep. Frank Mrvan, vice chairman of the Congressional Steel Caucus, will offer perspectives from the policy arena.
“The global steel industry is undergoing a renaissance, with record investments, technological innovation and global policy all converging head-on,” said AIST executive director Ron Ashburn. “The North American steel industry alone is directing more than US$23 billion into CAPEX expansion… generational investments that will bring cleaner and better performing steels. Europe, Asia and South America are investing heavily, too,” he said.
With the industry’s leading executives and key policymakers on the agenda, the Global Steel Dynamics Forum will reveal just who is setting the pace.
“This conference sits at the intersection of economics and technology. With steel producers investing billions of dollars to improve efficiencies, launch green products, and reduce their environmental footprint, this is an especially critical time for the industry. If your business depends on steel, the Global Steel Dynamics Forum is a can’t-miss event,” said Philipp Englin, WSD chief executive officer.
