The client is the newly founded MOIN Mobilitätsinfrastruktur und -betriebs GmbH Landkreis Lüneburg, or MOIN GmbH for short. The depot is scheduled to start operations in early 2026. The investment amount for the overall project is 9.6 million euros. The symbolic first groundbreaking ceremony for the bus depot flagship project, which will be designed and implemented from scratch on a greenfield site, took place on 27 May 2025 at the future location in Gebrüder-Heyn-Straße in the industrial area at the port of the city of Lüneburg. Nils Richert, Head of Sales and Projects Charging Infrastructure DACH at Daimler Buses, MOIN Managing Director Nikolas Wenzel, Alex Meier, Workshop and Depot Manager MOIN, County Councillor Jens Böther and Claudia Kalisch, Mayor of Lüneburg, were present.

From 1 January 2026, MOIN GmbH will take over all local public transport in the district of Lüneburg as well as Lüneburg’s urban transport system and will exclusively use quiet and locally CO2-free eCitaro buses from the Mercedes-Benz brand.
Daimler Buses will carry out the complete construction of the site in close cooperation with proven local subcontractors, from civil engineering works to green areas and access barrier systems. For example, the scope of the depot construction project in Lüneburg includes the entire architectural services, all structural and civil engineering works, the complete installation of electrics, electronics and IT as well as the charging hardware, charging management and a photovoltaic system to cover a large part of the future power requirements in the new e-bus depot. In addition to 20 charging points for electric buses, Daimler Buses will also install two transformers including a transfer station, an office and social building, a central scheduling department, an electric bus workshop, a vehicle wash and sufficient bus and car parking spaces.
Lidl receives the first eActros 600 in Italy Lidl Italia strengthens its commitment to a responsible supply chain in freight transport: the food retailer is the first company in Italy to accept the new eActros 600 from Mercedes-Benz Trucks – a fully electric semitrailer tractor that was specially developed for CO2-free long-distance transport. This is taking place in close cooperation with Daimler Truck Italia and LC3 Trasporti and marks the start of a new chapter for climate-friendly mobility on Italy’s roads.

Italy’s first eActros 600 in the hands of customers is now delivering to Lidl branches in Trentino-South Tyrol and the Lake Garda region during the summer months. The truck is equipped with a nitrogen-cooled semitrailer and thus represents a climate-friendly transport solution for temperature-sensitive goods. The vehicle and semitrailer are also given a special paint finish that visually underlines the partnership between the three partners. LC3 Trasporti, a long-standing pioneer in sustainable logistics, has ordered a total of 30 eActros 600. In cooperation with Daimler Truck Italia and the dealership Rossi Veicoli, LC3 is thus one of the first companies in Europe to rely on a fully electric long-haul fleet – a decisive contribution to the decarbonization of the transport sector.

new performance flagship of the Bentayga line-up will be launched at 12:30 BST on Monday 2 June Bentley will reveal its most powerful, most dynamic and best sounding Bentayga yet at 12:30 BST on 2 June.

Increased performance comes from a twin-turbocharged, non-hybridised V8 with more power than the previous W12-engined Bentayga Speed. It will also be the most characterful Bentayga yet, not least due to a new sports exhaust distinguished externally by two elliptical tailpipes emerging through the rear diffuser. A more extreme SPORT calibration with a new ESC Dynamic mode will permit exhilarating drift angles (where appropriate) – a first for Bentley’s pinnacle performance SUV.
Bentley Blower enters production Hedley Studios has begun production of its first road-legal, driveable piece of automotive artwork, the Bentley Blower Jnr. Designed and developed in conjunction with Bentley Motors, Blower Jnr is an 85% scale recreation of the 1929 Bentley Blower. This electrified, road legal creation carries the spirit on the original, near-100-year-old legendary Bentley to a whole new generation, and the Blower Jnr has now completed 18 months of on-road testing to refine and prove the design.

The final sign-off took place on the coastal roads and historic lanes of Jersey – the largest of the Channel Islands and a place steeped in natural beauty. With narrow roads, an island-wide speed limit of 40 mph and a total area of just 45 miles, Jersey was the perfect place for a smaller-scale electric vehicle to complete its development journey, and one where Blower Jnr’s character and charm could be appreciated to the full.
Covering over 650 miles across three days, a select group of representatives from both Hedley Studios and Bentley Motors were joined by international media to evaluate the Bentley Blower Jnr’s full on-road driving potential, set against the stunning backdrops and vistas of the Jersey coastline.
The completion of these test drives marks an important step in the Bentley Blower Jnr’s development, as production of customer models gets underway. Utilising meticulous, hand-crafting techniques, Hedley Studios’ team of artisans will hand-beat the panels of the Bentley Blower Jnr’s bodywork, while expert engineers assemble the fully-electric 48-volt powertrain.
Only 349 examples of the Bentley Blower Jnr will go into production, with prospective owners able to customise their commission to their own individual style. Hedley Studios’ team work closely with each client to curate a Blower Jnr that is bespoke to their taste, from specific colour finishes to a choice of racing number.

Porsche Masterpieces: From early customer requests to factory one-offs Almost no other brand represents personal freedom and individuality like Porsche. Today more than ever before, there is very little chance that two identical Porsche models will leave the factory halls. And yet the customization trend began rather unremarkably. For example, a rear windshield wiper for the 356 A Coupé of industrialist Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach in 1955: not a problem for the repair department at the main factory in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

What seems ordinary today was an exotic option at a time when a car radio, for instance, was viewed as an extravagant add-on. The first car phones were an absolute rarity, usually ordered by government clients. The factory responded to the growing demand for customization by expanding the range of accessories, which included reclining seats, grab handles, rev counters, and luggage racks. What started out as individual customer requests evolved into a tradition that has consistently expanded over the past 70 years, a period in which Porsche has developed valuable expertise. “Since the beginning, we’ve been consistently expanding our customization range and making it more attractive for our customers,” explains Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualization and Classic at Porsche. “While individual customer requests tended to be the exception in the early years, the Sonderwunsch and Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur ranges now include some of the most popular products.” Exclusive Manufaktur currently offers customers around a thousand predefined options to choose from. Through the Paint to Sample programme, more than 190 colors can be configurated. “Demand varies significantly depending on the series,” explains Fabig. “The most popular option is the LED door projector with Porsche lettering, followed by the enhanced taillights and the emblem on the headrests,” he says, listing the top three features for the 911.

Macan 4S Electric: With the electric version of the Macan, Porsche is ushering in a new chapter that is emblematic of the technological leap of recent years. Two electric motors enable all-wheel drive and, in the Macan 4S, with which we are exploring Monaco, an overboost output of up to 380 kW (516 PS) – enabling impressively strong acceleration. Just the blink of an eye and the sprint to city speed is done. Performance does not come at the expense of efficiency. Thanks to modern battery technology and intelligent energy management, the electric SUV achieves ranges that do not have to shy away from comparison with conventionally powered cars. It symbolises a new generation of Porsche vehicles that combine responsibility and performance. And it is representative of how far electric mobility has developed since Monaco’s pioneering days.
China’s NEV appeal hits record high, says J.D. Power China’s NEV products are seeing greater recognition among car buyers, according to a J.D. Power report released on Thursday.
A record-high score of 806 out of 1,000 was seen this year — the first time it has crossed the 800-point threshold since the China New Energy Vehicle Product Appeal Index Study began in 2021.
Based on responses from over 21,000 NEV owners within two to six months of purchase, the study revealed a maturing market shifting from first-time buyers to repeat and replacement buyers.
Notably, women now account for 33 percent of incremental NEV purchases, up 5 percentage points year-over-year, making them a key driver of market growth.
In contrast, the share of male repeat buyers rose just 2 percentage points to 25 percent.
Local startups continued to outperform international brands both in sales and user satisfaction.
Domestic NEV brands have not only gained ground but surpassed foreign marques in perceived product appeal, highlighting the growing pressure on legacy players.
Driverless trucks show way of future transport The commercial use of autonomous trucks is gaining momentum in the logistics sector as Chinese self-driving firms accelerate steps to conduct road tests and mass-produce autonomous heavy-duty trucks driven by rising demand for faster freight delivery.
China’s autonomous driving company Pony.ai announced that it has been granted permission to carry out cross-provincial expressway testing of unmanned truck platoons, the first such testing in China.
The platoons, led by manned vehicles, have begun self-driving freight-service testing on the Beijing-Tianjin-Tanggu expressway. As part of its strategic roadmap, Pony.ai aims to achieve full autonomy for all trucks in future platoons, further driving down logistics costs for autonomous trucking.
Pony.ai’s autonomous trucks, which transport goods daily between Beijing and Tianjin, have delivered nearly 500 twenty-foot equivalent units of freight orders and accumulated over 45,000 kilometers of autonomous driving mileage on this route. A TEU is a widely used unit of measurement in the shipping business.
Its autonomous truck operations have evolved from early-stage road testing to commercial operations with autonomous platoons. The company said it will focus on achieving fully driverless fleets to drive the mass commercialization of autonomous trucks.

Oil Prices on Course for Another Weekly Dip Crude oil prices are set for another weekly decline following news that OPEC+ was planning to boost production by another 411,000 barrels daily in July. Meanwhile, a court ruling that blocked Trump’s tariffs has been paused after the White House appealed the decision. Earlier this week, a trade court ruled that President Trump had exceeded his authority in imposing sweeping tariffs on all U.S. trade partners, noting the authority on trade policies lay exclusively with Congress.
The administration, however, appealed immediately, and the appeals court paused the initial ruling while it considered the federal government’s appeal against it. The court will hear the two sides by June 9. Reuters reported that the administration remains determined to implement tariffs, one way or another.
Toyota Submits Third Progress Report Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) has announced that it has submitted a progress report on recurrence prevention of model certification application issues to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) today in light of the correction order issued by the ministry on July 31. This report, summarizing actions taken to date, is the third of a series of quarterly reports.
Specific Progress of Recurrence Prevention Measures
With the three pillars of Strengthening Foundations, Monozukuri, and Human Development, Toyota has been promoting a review of its structure and systems to ensure that each employee is aware of legal compliance and is able to do the job correctly. The company is also promoting on-site management, in which management promptly takes appropriate action at the genba in response to abnormalities.
The following concrete actions are being promoted across the Toyota Group with set priorities and activity plans.
Toyota confirms it will shift production of hot hatch favourite from Japan to Derbyshire next year Toyota has today announced it will shift production of one of its in-demand hot hatchbacks to the UK next year.
Manufacturing of some GR Corolla cars will move from its native Japan to the Burnaston plant in Derbyshire in 2026, where the hybrid Corolla family hatchback is already produced.
However, despite plans to soon build the car in Britain, the GR Corolla isn’t sold in the UK.
In fact, the aim is to increase Toyota’s supply of these motors to North America where there’s intense demand for the 300hp sports car – which costs $43,995 (approx £32,500). It will also mean the company can reap the benefit of the more favourable trade deal agreed between the US and UK, with Japanese imports levied with steeper 25 per cent tariffs.
It will be the first time a GR-branded Toyota – which stands for Gazoo Racing, the competition arm of the company that overseas its World Rally Championship and World Endurance Championship assaults that also tweaks its range of performance cars – will be made outside Japan.
