Epiroc says it has received a Gold Medal from global sustainability ratings firm EcoVadis, placing Epiroc in the top 5% of companies assessed on their sustainability work.
Epiroc’s rating, an improvement from last year’s Silver Medal, reflects the company’s commitment to and progress on its ambitious 2030 sustainability goals, it added.
EcoVadis evaluated more than 150,000 companies across four key areas: environment, labour and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement.
“This recognition reflects the hard work of our teams worldwide and our commitment to integrating sustainability into everything we do, from product innovation and operations to responsible sourcing,” Helena Hedblom, Epiroc’s President and CEO, said.
Epiroc’s rating highlights a strong performance across several sustainability areas, it explained. The company demonstrates environmental stewardship through continuous decarbonisation and resource-efficiency improvements. In the realm of labour and human rights, Epiroc is committed to maintaining safe, fair and inclusive workplaces. Ethical governance is underpinned by robust compliance practices, and the company’s approach to sustainable procurement emphasises diligent supplier engagement and responsible sourcing.
EcoVadis’s ratings system is especially helpful to customers, according to Epiroc. The standardised, third-party rating supports due diligence efforts, and it provides transparent comparison in tenders and supplier qualifications for each of the four key areas.
In 2020, Epiroc launched its ambitious sustainability goals for 2030, which include, among other things, to halve CO2e emissions. Epiroc’s climate targets are validated by the Science Based Targets initiative as being in line with keeping global warming at a maximum 1.5° C, consistent with climate science and the goal of the Paris Climate Agreement.
Earlier this year, TIME Magazine for the second year in a row listed Epiroc among the world’s most sustainable companies.
