Eni Foundation launches initiatives to strengthen health services

London, 12 October 2023, (Oilandgaspress) – Eni Foundation, the foundation that promotes social and humanitarian initiatives around the world, through the support from Eni México, launched initiatives to strengthen health services in the state of Tabasco, based on the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed on June 15th 2022, with the Secretaria de Salud of State of Tabasco and the Jurisdiction of Cárdenas.

A joint visiting tour in the municipality of Cárdenas was carried out with Eni Mexico and Eni Foundation representatives, the Health Secretary, Cárdenas Mayor and the head of Sanitary Jurisdiction of Cardenas on the 10th Oct. With the purpose of being witnesses of the joint effort and see the work completed after the MoU signed in 2022, diverse activities were carried out including supporting the capacity building, donation of hospital equipment and supporting of epidemiology surveillance. On the 11th the first Steering Committee with members of Eni Foundation and representatives from the Health Secretary was held, where in its first meeting the progress of the programs were discussed and agreed.

Mexico is a key country in Eni’s future organic growth strategy. The company has been present in the country since 2006 and in 2015 established its subsidiary Eni México S. de R.L. of C.V. Eni currently has interests in eight exploration and production blocks (six as Operator), all located in the Southeast Basin in the Gulf of Mexico and is the main foreign operator in term of oil and gas production in Mexico.

The Eni Foundation was formed in 2006 with the aim of offering a coherent and effective response to the needs of civil society in Eni’s countries of operations. It currently operates in Mexico, Algeria, Egypt, Libya, Rwanda, Guinea Bissau, and with previous projects in Myanmar, Mozambique, Ghana, Angola, Republic of the Congo, Indonesia and Italy.
