EACON replicable, scalable autonomous BEV solution deployed at Dashihe – International Mining

EACON Mining Technology says it has successfully deployed a new electric autonomous haulage solution, commissioning 16 battery electric vehicles (BEVs) developed in collaboration with Yutong at Shougang Group’s Dashihe Iron Ore Mine.

Yutong is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment. This milestone marks the second collaboration between EACON and Shougang Group, following the successful Shuichang Iron Ore Mine project, a fully autonomous quarry operation. The Dashihe deployment establishes one of China’s most advanced autonomous, zero-emission haulage fleets. From completing network infrastructure to achieving fully autonomous, safety driver free, full-cycle operations, EACON delivered the 16-vehicle battery-electric fleet in just over one month.

Steep and long downhill loaded hauls at Dashihe make it an ideal environment for battery electric regeneration, recovering about 4-5% of energy per single trip from loading to dumping. Powered by the mine’s own solar energy, the new autonomous BEV fleet supports Shougang’s strategy to cut emissions while lifting productivity. Since implementation, truck utilisation has increased by 4-5% with continuous 24/7 autonomous operations reducing manpower requirements and improving safety. EACON says the success of this project provides a replicable model for other traditional mines seeking intelligent, low-carbon transformation.

“Implementing autonomous technology on the haulage trucks not only changes their driving power, but also supports optimisation of production organisation, costs, and management efficiency,” said a representative from Shougang Group. “This project showcases our commitment to digital transformation and high-quality, low-carbon mining.”

EACON’s success at Dashihe Iron Mine it says shows how autonomous battery-electric vehicles can transform mine haulage by combining zero-emission performance with intelligent control. “The project delivers clear gains in safety, efficiency, and sustainability, setting a new benchmark for smart, clean mining. It also highlights EACON’s technology leadership and collaboration with OEMs such as Yutong, helping Shougang Group accelerate its shift to autonomous, zero-emission operations.”

The same proven model is now being extended to Australia, where miners are looking for scalable, low-emission autonomy solutions that drive cleaner, smarter, and more productive operations.

“The Dashihe Iron Mine project exemplifies the next stage of zero-emission mining by combining full autonomy with electrification to unlock cleaner, more efficient production,” said EACON Project Manager, Li Bang, “We’re proud to support Shougang Group in setting a new benchmark for sustainable mining and operational excellence.”

EACON Mining Technology delivers the world’s most deployed autonomous haulage system, with over 2,000 trucks automated, 60 million+ kilometres driven, and 25 projects across commodities including coal, iron ore, copper, gold, and zinc. Designed for interoperability with any truck brand, new or existing, EACON’s distributed architecture enables mixed-fleet operations at scale. By combining 360° perception, vehicle-level autonomy, and real-time optimised dispatching, the system enhances safety, boosts efficiency, and supports the mining industry’s path to net zero. EACON’s first Australian deployment with Thiess and Norton Gold Fields marks a key step in its regional expansion, supported by a new West Perth office.
