Rapid one-month rollout delivers zero-emission operations and sets a new benchmark for clean mining.
EACON Mining Technology has completed the rapid deployment of 16 autonomous battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) at Shougang Group’s Dashihe iron ore mine, in partnership with leading mining equipment manufacturer Yutong.
From network setup to achieving fully autonomous, full-cycle operations, EACON delivered the zero-emission fleet in just one month.
Steep, extended downhill hauls at Dashihe create ideal conditions for battery-electric regeneration, recovering around 5 per cent of energy per trip. Powered by on-site solar energy, the new autonomous BEV fleet supports Shougang’s goal to cut emissions and boost productivity.
Since deployment, truck utilisation has increased by 4–5 per cent, with 24/7 autonomous operations reducing manpower needs and enhancing safety. The project sets a replicable model for traditional mines pursuing intelligent, low-carbon transformation.
“Implementing autonomous technology on the haulage trucks not only changes their driving power, but also supports optimisation of production organisation, costs, and management efficiency,” said a representative from Shougang Group. “This project showcases our commitment to digital transformation and high-quality, low-carbon mining.”
EACON’s success at Dashihe demonstrates how autonomous battery-electric vehicles are transforming mine haulage, combining zero-emission performance with intelligent control.
The project delivers measurable improvements in safety, efficiency, and sustainability, underscoring EACON’s technology leadership and collaboration with OEM partners such as Yutong. The same proven model is now being extended to Australia, where miners are adopting scalable, low-emission autonomy solutions to drive cleaner, smarter, and more productive operations.
“The Dashihe Iron Mine project exemplifies the next stage of zero-emission mining by combining full autonomy with electrification to unlock cleaner, more efficient production,” EACON Mining Technology project manager Li Bang said.
“We’re proud to support Shougang Group in setting a new benchmark for sustainable mining and operational excellence.”
About EACON Mining Technology
EACON Mining Technology delivers the world’s most deployed autonomous haulage system, with over 2,000 trucks automated, 60 million+ kilometres driven, and 25 projects across commodities including coal, iron ore, copper, gold, and zinc.
Designed for interoperability with any truck brand, new or existing, EACON’s distributed architecture enables mixed-fleet operations at scale. By combining 360° perception, vehicle-level autonomy, and real-time optimised dispatching, the system enhances safety, boosts efficiency, and supports the mining industry’s path to net zero.
EACON’s first Australian deployment with Thiess and Norton Gold Fields marks a key step in its regional expansion, supported by a new West Perth office.
