London, October 01, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) –––British companies are paying the highest electricity prices of anywhere in the developed world, official data has shown. The cost of power for industrial businesses has jumped 124pc in just five years, according to the Government’s figures, catapulting the UK to the top of international league tables. It is now about 50pc more expensive than in Germany and France, and four times as expensive as in the US. The figures will fuel concerns about the future of UK industry amid warnings that high energy prices are crippling domestic manufacturers. They underline the challenge facing Ed Miliband, the Energy Secretary, who wants industrial businesses to switch away from gas to electricity-powered processes… Read More
Pipetech Completes 3M Worth of Specialist Work

Flow remediation experts Pipetech, a Denholm Environmental subsidiary, has cemented its credentials as a leading authority of specialist remediation cleaning services to the energy sector by completing nearly £3M worth of work for a multinational oil and gas operator.
This initial two-stage contract is part of a planned six-yearly maintenance campaign and saw Pipetech mobilise a team of 25 people to carry out inspection and cleaning of over 1.5km of pipework at one of the UK’s leading refineries. The original scope of work commenced in October 2024 before Pipetech received confirmation of continued work in Q2 this year, following the success of the initial project.
For the project, Pipetech utilised its groundbreaking Aqua Milling® technology, which has consistently proven to remove the toughest of scales. Addressing contamination and disruption within the pipework system, Pipetech, via Aqua Milling®, tackled the oil-based debris that was responsible for blockages, cleaning the system back to a bare metal finish.
Additionally, Aqua Milling’s® ability to travel long distances from single-entry points and navigate complex bends meant the client didn’t require as many intervention resources.
Discussing the significance of the project, Pipetech Operations Director Leonard Hamill commented: “The success of the initial stages of this contract demonstrates our commitment to pioneering innovative solutions to elevate our customers’ industrial cleaning operations. We take immense pride in the fact that no other contractor or technology has achieved the level of cleanliness that Pipetech consistently delivers. Aqua Milling® continues to be the method of choice for complex industrial cleaning challenges.”
“The team of 25 mobilised for this contract was a definitive representation of our technology’s capabilities. Their work on this project has helped solidify our reputation across the energy sector while reinforcing our obligation to provide industry-leading remediation cleaning expertise. We look forward to continuing our collaborations with the client and identifying new opportunities to strengthen our relationship.” Read More
Kent, a global leader in integrated energy services, has been appointed by ACWA Power as Owner’s Engineer for the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub, a major green hydrogen and ammonia export facility being developed in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project is set to become one of the largest of its kind globally, forming a centrepiece of the country’s clean energy transition strategy and aligning closely with Vision 2030.

Situated in the port city of Yanbu on the Red Sea, the project will feature full integration across the green hydrogen value chain. This includes its own dedicated renewable power generation, desalination plants, ammonia production lines and an export terminal. At full scale, the facility will deliver up to 400,000 tonnes of renewable hydrogen per year, converted into over 2.2 million tonnes of green ammonia for international markets. With more than 4 gigawatts of electrolysis capacity planned, the Yanbu hub is expected to be nearly twice the size of the NEOM Green Hydrogen Project.
As Owner’s Engineer, Kent will act as ACWA Power’s technical representative throughout the front-end engineering design (FEED) phase being deliver through a Joint Venture between Técnicas Reunidas and Sinopec. The Kent team will provide independent oversight and assurance to support safe, efficient and technically robust project delivery. Kent’s responsibilities include ensuring engineering design compliance with international standards, reviewing safety and constructability, managing technical interfaces and integration across the various workstreams, and advising on risk and design optimisation. The team will also support ACWA Power in planning the transition into the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) phase. Read More

Autonomous frac completions deliver smarter capabilities and more meaningful efficiency gains than just the implementation of automated continuous pumping.
A smarter metric for frac completion efficiency
First, a smarter metric needs to be defined for completion operations efficiency, which requires keeping in mind that this is not about controlling the frac; it’s about managing the wells and maximizing throughput. Sure, continuous pumping is easy to measure. But what is being continuously pumped and what is the time required?
TechnipFMC’s iComplete® high-performance surface pressure containment ecosystem is an autonomous, integrated platform that closes the loop between horsepower and the reservoir. It provides operators with the assurance of a continuous sand-flow guarantee—defined as proppant delivery to the fracture proceeds uninterrupted until the stage is complete. This reliability encompasses critical factors such as compatibility with all pumpers, the industry’s most dependable end connections, and autonomous operations that remove personnel from the red zone, among others.. The U.S. government has now officially shut down after Republicans and Democrats failed to come to an agreement on a stopgap bill to fund operations. The impact of this shutdown will not stop at furloughed staff or shuttered museums. In energy, a shutdown lands with real force. It deprives markets of the official data that guide trading, erodes confidence in demand signals, lifts financing costs, and slows permits for the projects that underpin future supply. Oil, gas, and power don’t stop moving, but they move in murkier conditions, and that’s when small shocks hit harder. . Read More

Eni and the Ivorian Ministry of Mines, Petroleum and Energy signed the exploration contract for the CI-707 offshore block in Abidjan. The licence covers an area of approximately 2,926 square kilometres in the Ivorian sedimentary basin, at a water depth of between 1,000 and 3,000 metres. The planned exploration period has a maximum duration of 9 years. The area covered by the new licence is geologically continuous with the nearby CI-205 block, where Eni announced the discovery of Calao in March 2024. This proximity offers a strategic opportunity for the identification of potential similar structures, paving the way for future synergistic developments. With this new licence, Eni further consolidates its presence in Côte d’Ivoire, where it has been operating since 2017 with a current equity production of over 62,000 barrels of oil and more than 75 million cubic feet of gas per day, set to rise to 150,000 barrels of oil and 200 million cubic feet of gas with the start of phase 3. The company is active in 10 offshore blocks in the country – CI-101, CI-205, CI-401, CI-501, CI-504, CI-526, CI-706, CI-708, CI-801 and CI-802 – in addition to block CI-707. Read More
