New Murchison Gold (NMG) has officially transitioned into production, with first ore from its Crown Prince gold mine, located near Meekatharra, Western Australia, crushed, assayed and stockpiled.
The first 10,000-tonne parcel is being hauled 36km south to Westgold Resources’ Bluebird processing facility, marking what New Murchison Gold said is a major milestone since deciding to develop Crown Prince in June this year.
The delivery also started the formal commencement date under New Murchison Gold’s ore purchase agreement (OPA) with Big Bell gold operations, a Westgold subsidiary.
The company is now working to ramp up production to a 40,000-tonne-per-month run rate through September and October.
“After executing the OPA in December 2024, the company is very pleased to bring the Crown Prince gold mine into production at record Australian dollar gold prices and ahead of the September 30, 2025 anticipated commencement date established in the OPA,” New Murchison Gold chief executive Alex Passmore said.
“We look forward to further growth from both Crown Prince gold mine and the company’s regional portfolio.”
The agreement with Westgold provides New Murchison Gold with an immediate processing pathway without the need to build its own plant, significantly reducing upfront capital requirements.
New Murchison Gold recently conducted diamond drilling targeting mineralisation in the south-eastern and northern zones of mineralisation outside the current mineral resource estimate.
A significant intersection included 3m at 43.1 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 245m, including 1m at 69.4g/t gold, located 75m below the base of the Crown Prince pit design. The company said this hole adds to the confidence of mineralisation in the central part of the south-eastern zone.
Another drillhole returned a wide and relatively continuous intersection of 36.3m at 2.22g/t gold from 367.5m.
New Murchison Gold considers this intersection “highly encouraging”, as the Crown Prince south-eastern zone structure is strongly persisting at depth, and this hole was the deepest drilled into the south-eastern mineralised structure so far.
