Chevron and Westlawn partner with Anadarko

To boost investment in hydrocarbon exploration in Peru.
London, September 22, 2025, (Oilandgaspress) –– Chevron, the world’s third-largest oil company, and Westlawn, a leading investment fund in the global oil and gas industry, formalized their partnership with Anadarko today to explore for hydrocarbons offshore Peru. These agreements, which were signed with PERUPETRO SA, amended the License Agreements for Blocks Z-61, Z-62, and Z-63, were amended.

The formal ceremony for the contract modification took place today at the Government Palace, with the participation of the President of the Republic, Dina Boluarte, the Minister of Energy and Mines, Jorge Montero, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Perupetro, Pedro Chira, as well as representatives of the Anadarko-Chevron-Westlawn Consortium, marking an important milestone for the country’s hydrocarbon sector.

Anadarko continues to operate the Contracts with a 35 percent stake, Chevron holds 35 percent, and Westlawn holds 30 percent, forming a new consortium of internationally renowned companies with high technological, social, and environmental standards.

Lots Z-61, Z-62 and Z-63 are located in the Trujillo Basin, offshore, at a distance of 50 nautical miles from the coastlines of the Lambayeque and La Libertad regions, where the seabed depths vary from east to west between 100 and 2,400 meters.

The Contracts are in the second period of the exploration phase, which involves recording, reprocessing, and interpreting information obtained from 3D marine seismic surveys conducted during May and July 2024. During this period, 6,018 km2 of 3D marine seismic data were recorded, the largest study ever conducted in Peru and on the Pacific coast.

The results of the studies are expected to be ready in the first quarter of 2026, at which point the Anadarko-Chevron-Westlawn Consortium will decide whether to advance to the third exploration period, which involves drilling an exploratory well.

This drilling activity is crucial, as it is the only way to confirm the existence of hydrocarbons.
