BYD news has been flying in. Here are a few more stories.

BYD Seal Wins Prestigious Japan Car of the Year Award

BYD is on a roll, but even with that said, I was a bit shocked to see it winning a Japan Car of the Year award! A Chinese car winning this award??! Who would’ve thought it.

The BYD Seal just won a “Top Ten Best Models” award, which has been a staple of Japanese auto culture for decades, beginning in 1980. The Seal is the first Chinese car, of any kind, to win this award.

“The selection is conducted by a team of veteran automotive critics and professional judges, who choose the most representative models from the new cars released that year,” BitAuto writes. “This year, a total of 31 models were shortlisted. The BYD Seal stood out in the first round of selection with its innovative design and outstanding performance, ultimately winning the “Top Ten Best Models” award.

BYD’s Biggest Factory Builds 1 Million Cars in 2024

BYD’s largest auto production facility produces more plugin vehicles in a year than any other EV factory. The company just passed the milestone of producing more than 1 million plugin vehicles in this factory in 2024! That’s some achievement. Tesla is at about half that level at its biggest factory.

“BYD’s Xi’an plant has four assembly lines in production at the same time, with output reaching 4,000 to 4,400 vehicles per day,” CnEVPost writes. “The plant, located in the Xi’an Hi-Tech Zone, is BYD’s largest single automotive plant in China and has been in operation for 20 years, the post noted.”

Overall, BYD aims to produce more than 4 million plugin vehicles in 2024.

BYD SEALION 7 Launches in Spain

BYD continues to expand into more markets, and add to vehicle lineups in existing markets. The company’s latest announcement (I think) is that the BYD SEALION 7 is now for sale in Spain.

More BYD news? I’m sure there is somewhere. If I’m missing something, let us know!
