I published earlier today about BYD’s passenger vehicle sales, which were, stunningly, above 500,000 units for two months in a row. While the main focus has to be around the company’s passenger sales, and whether BYD can maintain or even grow this level, the EV giant’s commercial vehicle sales are also notable. BYD sells a large number of electric buses, electric heavy-duty trucks, electric medium-duty trucks, electric garbage trucks, and more. Let’s look at how these vehicles are doing.
In November, BYD had 2,801 commercial vehicle sales in November, more than 5 multiples of the 525 sales it had in November 2023. Looking at the first 11 months of 2024, BYD sold 16,406 commercial vehicles, which is a 54.1% increase over the 10,646 vehicles sold in the first 11 months of 2023.
BYD Commercial Vehicle Sales (Not Buses)
Looking at non-bus commercial electric vehicle sales, BYD moved a whopping 2,352 units in November 2024. That’s an enormous increase over the 134 units delivered in November 2023. Of course, commercial vehicle deliveries can be quite lopsided from month to month. It’s probably more useful to look at longer time periods. Across the first 11 months of the year, non-bus commercial vehicles had 12,201 sales, 80.9% more than the 6,746 sales of the first 11 months of 2023.
BYD Electric Bus Sales
Now, on to electric buses. BYD delivered 449 electric buses in November 2024, a small step up from the 391 delivered in November 2023. Again, looking across a longer timeframe, the company sold 4,205 electric buses across the first 11 months of this year, up 7.8% from the 3,900 delivered across the first 11 months of 2023.
That’s a lot of large electric vehicles. Thank goodness EV giant BYD has long focused on cleaning up large vehicle fleets around the world.
