Bravus Mining and Resources and Rockhampton Basketball to play on through to 2027

Bravus Mining and Resources and Rockhampton Basketball Inc will keep their winning streak alive after the regional Queensland-based mining company re-signed as a major partner through to 2027.

Bravus Mining and Resources has been associated with Rockhampton Basketball since 2019, after the home of Rockhampton Basketball became known as the Bravus Arena.

Bravus Mining and Resources head of reputation and ESG (environment, social and governance) Kate Campbell said the business was thrilled to be able to continue to back Rocky’s basketball scene – not just on the court, but in the community too.

“We’re proud to operate in regional Queensland and we always seek to back our local communities and the things that are important to the 1200 workers at our Carmichael mine,” Campbell said.

“We’re all about supporting Rocky basketball, whether they’re lacing up their own sneakers, cheering their kids from the stands, or riding every high and low with the Rockets and Cyclones.

“Basketball in Rockhampton is also more than a sport – it’s a powerhouse for fun, teamwork, and belonging, which makes this partnership a perfect match for us.”

The renewal will see Bravus Mining and Resources Arena remain at the heart of Rockhampton Basketball and provide a venue for everything from electrifying NBL1 games to community events like Beef Week, both of which bring the region together.

Rockhampton Basketball Inc operations manager Anna Austin said the extension would give the Schwarz Rockhampton Rockets and the CQ University Cyclones a serious boost as they battle for the men’s and women’s championships.

“The facilities and opportunities we can offer our athletes thanks to partners like Bravus Mining and Resources are fundamental to why Rockhampton Basketball continues to grow locally and perform nationally,” Austin said.

“Bravus Mining and Resources’ ongoing support is a massive win – not just for our athletes but for the entire Rocky basketball family.”
