Bravus backs industry jobs at Carmichael

Bravus Mining and Resources and DRA Global are on the look out for skilled operators, technicians and maintenance crews to help keep the Carmichael coal mine’s coal handling and preparation plant (CHPP) running smoothly.

DRA Global senior vice president – APAC East Michael Carretta said there would be 20 new site-based roles up for grabs at the Queensland mine.

“At DRA, we’re proud of our contribution to the Carmichael mine, which began over five years ago with design, construction and commissioning of the CHPP and train load out,” he said. “Today, our team provides high-value operations and maintenance services.

“Each shift offers variety and the opportunity to embrace innovative ideas and solutions. Every day, we work with cutting-edge technology that enhances efficiency, reduces operational costs, and supports environmental sustainability. It’s a rewarding environment for those wanting to advance their careers.”

Bravus chief operating officer Mick Crowe said the team was excited to welcome new recruits into the Carmichael community.

“Our Carmichael mine in central Queensland produces about 10 million tonnes of thermal coal each year which is used by nations in the Asia Pacific region alongside renewables to provide reliable and affordable energy that helps reduce poverty and power growth,” he said.

“These new DRA roles are another great example highlighting that if you live in regional Queensland, Carmichael is the opportunity of a secure job for you, your kids, and maybe even a grandkid or two.”

In an effort to create a strong work-life balance, Bravus offers direct flights to and from site, Townsville, Rockhampton, Cairns and Mackay.

“That means less of their R&R is lost to work-related travel, giving them more time to spend with friends and family while enjoying the perks of living and working in central and North Queensland,” Crowe said.
