Recent exploration activities at Poseidon Nickel’s Black Swan and Lake Johnston projects have enhanced the gold prospectivity for the WA-based sites.
A total of 52 gold nuggets have been found so far from the intercepted gold bearing structures at Black Swan, with geological settings shown to be similar to nearby gold mines Kanowna Belle and Gordon Sirdar.
“The 52 nuggets recovered to date enhances the prospectivity of the interpreted gold structures that intersect with the geological sequences at Black Swan,” Poseidon Nickel chief executive officer Brendan Shalders said.
“The team plans to complete a soil sampling program at Black Swan this month [August] to further test the gold prospectivity at the project.”
At Lake Johnston, the Bill Ray Cu-Au soil anomaly has been opened, striking into the newly acquired Mantis tenement and presenting a priority opportunity to undertake a soil sampling program.
The Windarra project is also sitting along a trend of known gold mineralisation, with promising gold in soil anomalies to be followed up with modern day soil programs.
“When considering the historical nickel focus at all of our projects, there has been very little sustained exploration for other commodities despite all three projects being located in the heart of the Easter Goldfields region of Western Australia,” Shalders said.
“The recently reported gold anomalies at Windarra, the increased gold prospectivity at Black Swan and the Cu-Au potential at Lake Johnston all offer exciting opportunities to carry out low-cost, high-reward exploration programs while maintaining our nickel resources and infrastructure options.”
