CALGARY — Birchcliff Energy Ltd. has announced the retirement of chief executive officer Jeff Tonken.
The Calgary-based intermediate oil and gas producer says in a press release that Tonken will be replaced by the company’s current president and chief operating officer Chris Carlsen, effective Jan. 1.
Tonken, one of Birchcliff’s founders, will remain chair of the board.
The company says its executive vice-president of operations and its executive vice-president of exploration will also retire as of the end of this year.
Both will stay on as executive advisors for a period of time to help ensure a smooth transition.
Birchcliff says these changes are part of an orderly and planned leadership transition process.
