If you’re still considering getting a Tesla before the year ends, there are some big discounts available on inventory cars. In other words, Tesla has a lot of cars at delivery centers and is very eager to move then in 2024 in order to jack up sales.
Credit goes to Brooke Crothers at Forbes for spotting this. “Tesla is giving sizable discounts — up to $4,870 — on select Model Y vehicles in inventory in the U.S. The Model S and X are seeing discounts, too,” Brooke wrote yesterday. “The discounts appear on the Model Y inventory page.”
The discounts are compared to pricing if you go through the Tesla Design Studio and customize a model in the way the specific inventory model is designed. So, the discounts are indeed discounts. Now, whether Tesla will go and drop pricing across the board in a week or two, we don’t know. Today, though, the discounts are a good chunk of money.
Scanning around for a bit, I didn’t find any discounts as high as $4,870. However, most of the cars in inventory had the “Reduced Price” label on them, with discounts between about $1,500 and $3,000 on Model Ys. Perhaps Tesla has cleared through enough of the inventory that such steep discounts are no longer available. Or perhaps I’m missing something.
On the Model S, price reductions are a bit higher, and I saw one up to $6,330! And with the Model X, they are even higher! Most appear to have a price reduction above $4,000, and here’s one that comes with a $7,300 discount!
The Tesla Model 3 discounts are the lowest, on average, with most of them below $1,000. However, some get up to $2,300.
If you’ve been thinking about buying a Tesla and you’ve waited till New Year’s Eve to go ahead and get one, I imagine you’re just going with a last-minute impulse buy or you’ve known you can get great deals at the end of the quarter and you’re ready to pounce. Either way, it’s a great time to get a Tesla for as little as possible, especially considering that the $7,500 EV tax credit might go away in 2025 — probably will.
There are surely great deals on other electric cars around the country as well. However, there’s not such a centralized, clear way to spot and evaluate those discounts. But it’s got to be a similarly good time for a discount on other EVs as well.
If buying a Tesla, also be sure to use a referral code. Tesla recently increased the amount of money you can be discounted using a referral code. If you don’t have one and want a referral code for a discount on a Tesla, feel free to use mine: https://ts.la/zachary63404.
