Autoline’s tailor made parts for underground

One of the things that set Autoline apart is their dedication to offering ‘parts that last longer’. Considering the parts they supply are almost exclusively used in mining fleets, durability and longevity is crucial – driving their research and development efforts.

The latest cab off the rank is a completely re-engineered range of TAKEO radiators for the 70series Landcruiser.

Autoline say after talking to hundreds of fitters and maintenance teams across various Australian mine sites, radiators consistently came up as a pain point. To the point that radiator-related maintenance issues were almost a guarantee for Landcruiser’s operating underground, and even on many open-pit sites too.

The Issue

Maintenance teams on site reported; cracking, leaking, over-heating, mud fouling and general shock and debris damage, as the major reasons for failure.

The OEM unit features a plastic tank design, sealed with a crimping method. While the unit performs fine for regular road going vehicles, it simply doesn’t have enough grunt for the environmental conditions of typical mine sites.

Autoline’s R&D team got to work and quickly found no suitable alternative on the market, so they got to engineering their own – tailored to the needs of their mining clients.

The solution

Autoline identified that there was a gap in the market.

Mining conditions called for a new product exceeding the specs of the OEM unit, yes. However, underground sites with corrosive operating environments called for an even further upgraded model with specs far outweighing anything currently on the market.

So they made one for each application.

The TAKEO PREMIUM open-pit model being positioned as a direct alternative to the OEM unit. Featuring upgraded specs like a formed alloy construction, at an equivalent price point.

The TAKEO PREMIUM+ heavy-duty underground model turns things up a notch, with all the same specs and a lot more; like anti-corrosion coating on the fins and tank, a 30 per cent increase in cooling capacity, and pressure-washable fins.

Next steps

Site trials are currently underway across some of the biggest mine sites in Australia, with initial feedback all showing positive signs.

Autoline maintains that although happy with the rigorous R&D on the product up to this point, ultimately, they’re always looking to re-engineer parts to last longer, meaning there’s further development likely to come out of the initial site trials.

It’s clear that developing parts specifically for mining operations is one of Autoline’s greatest priorities, and something that their clients have come to expect. The mining focused TAKEO parts range isn’t getting any smaller, with multiple new parts currently in the pipeline.
