A roaring contract win for Bundarra

Bundarra Countracting has been awarded a run of mine (ROM) loading contract at Liontown’s Kathleen Valley lithium operation in Western Australia.

The scope of the contract includes maintaining ore feed from the ROM pad into the primary crusher. It also includes general earthworks like road grading, dust suppression and rehabilitation work.

Bundarra Contracting is a 100 per cent Tjiwarl business specialising in earthworks, construction and ore haulage. The new contract marks an important milestone in Liontown’s work with Tjiwarl businesses.

“It’s with tremendous pride that I, on behalf of Liontown, announce the commencement of this contract which marks another significant moment in our partnership with the Tjiwarl, bringing together our expertise to safely and sustainably generate lasting value for Tjiwarl, local community and our shareholders,” Liontown managing director and chief executive officer Tony Ottaviano said.

“Our Kathleen Valley operation is situated on Tjiwarl land, in a culturally and environmentally significant region. We are proud to have signed a Native Title Agreement with the Tjiwarl Native Title Holders in November 2021.

“We are committed to collaborating closely with Tjiwarl and local communities, in respect of their heritage and to support local economic growth through responsible mining.”

Bundarra Contracting has procured a fleet of new equipment in support of the ongoing operational works at Kathleen Valley, including new Komatsu WA-900 and WA-600 front-end loaders and a Komatsu GD655 grader.
