Glencore to welcome new apprentices

Glencore has opened applications for its 2025 Apprenticeship Program, ready to welcome students who want to develop their skills and gain practical experience.

The four-year program will commence in January 2025, with successful candidates to receive a recognised trade qualification upon completion. They will also be exposed to strong career pathways and will earn a salary while developing their skills.

“As participants immerse themselves in real-world experiences, they not only acquire technical skills but also develop essential soft skills in communication, teamwork, and leadership,” Glencore Coal human resources manager Stella De Best said.

“At Glencore, we believe in investing in our talent, and our Apprenticeship Program serves as an entry point for aspiring trade persons to learn, contribute, and thrive in a supportive and challenging environment.”

The program will be conducted both on and offsite, and includes TAFE training. Participants will also be able to explore regional Australia, with positions available at Glencore operations in New South Wales and Queensland.

Both sites are seeking a range of roles, including auto electricians, metal fabricators and underground fitters for NSW and boiler makers, electricians and diesel mechanics for Queensland.

Candidates must have completed at least year 10 by the end of 2024 to apply, and Glencore is encouraging mature age students to take the plunge and apply as well.
