Metso has introduced its new Metso Power Transmission (MPT) offering for grinding mills to customers worldwide, confirming it has already secured its first order for an order for a Metso horizontal grinding mill in the Philippines.
Featuring the H-Series and R-Series gearbox platforms specifically engineered for horizontal and vertical grinding mills, respectively, the solutions are designed to offer exceptional reliability, serviceability and OEM value in aftermarket applications, the company says.
The in-house-designed power transmission solutions are engineered to integrate seamlessly with Metso grinding mills for superior performance and simplified maintenance. These benefits translate into increased operational optimisation, extended wear life, minimised downtime and enduring value that supports long-term business success, the company added.
Initially launched in the aftermarket, the new power transmission lineup expands Metso’s portfolio and capabilities for various grinding applications. With over 8,000 Metso grinding mills installed globally, the addition of in-house power transmission solutions strengthens the company’s ability to influence the entire flowsheet and capture full lifecycle value, Metso says.
The power transmission solutions are designed specifically for each application and are purpose-built through Metso’s extensive application expertise, ensuring each customer receives a fit-for-purpose product that maximises value and performance for their grinding operations. Each unit is also equipped with a plug-and-play condition monitoring system, enabling predictive maintenance and seamless integration into existing operations.

The H-Series for horizontal grinding mills is engineered to meet the highest industry standards. It is designed to fit SAG, AG, ball, rod and other mill types and comes equipped with a condition monitoring system.
The R-Series for vertical mills is engineered to go with Metso Vertimill® applications. It offers, the company says, excellent lead times and reliable spare parts availability, plus is equipped with a condition monitoring system.
The Metso Power Transmission horizontal grinding mill offering design is compatible not only with Metso mills but also with grinding mills from other manufacturers, offering flexible solutions for a wide range of operations.
