Today, the first day of Heat Pump Water Heater (HPWH) week, the non-profit led Advanced Water Heating Initiative is making history with the release of the first song ever written about a water heater.

We are excited to share this historical moment with the CleanTechnica community!

Why write a song about a water heater?

One of our primary tasks on HPWH Day is to elevate the lowly heat pump water heater. For example, few know that by switching to a HPWH, you can save huge amounts of both energy and money. Our music video makes this point by showing money raining from the sky, indicating the $500 that ENERGY STAR estimates a family of four will save on their electric bills when switching from an electric resistance water heater.

Similarly, most don’t know how much pollution the highly efficient heat pump water heater keeps out of our air. HPWHs reduce emissions of CO2 by 1 ton per year over fossil fuel water heaters and also prevent NOx and air particulates from polluting our local communities.

Finally, it’s just fun to see people in a heat pump water heater costume. All year long we hear from our community to “please put more people in a heat pump water heater costume.” With this new music video we’ve done our best to oblige.

We hope this song starts off your HPWH week well. Make sure you check out all the great events in store this week and don’t forget to register for HPWH Day itself!
