Perenti inks $1.1bn underground mining contract

A Perenti subsidiary will deliver a range of underground mining services to the Mana gold complex in Burkina Faso, West Africa under a contract that commenced on June 1.

Underground Mining Services (UMS), a 90:10 joint venture (JV) between Barminco and Dynamic Mining Supply, has secured a $1.1 billion contract with SEMAFO Burkina Faso S.A, an Endeavour Mining subsidiary.

Under the five-year contract, UMS will deliver underground development, production and related mining services to the Siou and Wona mines within the Mana complex.

“It is very pleasing and positive to announce the expansion of the Mana contract with Endeavour,” Perenti managing director and chief executive officer Mark Norwell said.

“This contract is consistent with our guidance for FY25 (the 2024–25 financial year) and will contribute strongly in FY26 and beyond. Our team continually delivers exceptional value for our clients, and this is clearly demonstrated by this long-term contract for expanded operations at the Mana complex.”

The works will build off the underground mining and related support services African Underground Mining Services, another Perenti subsidiary, has been executing at Mana since 2018.

“This contract, with expanded scope demonstrates the enduring nature of our relationship with Endeavour,” Perenti president of contract mining Gabrielle Iwanow said.

“We reiterate our commitment to delivering for our clients and creating enduring social and economic value in the communities in which we operate. We are proud to be working alongside our local JV partner Dynamic Mining Supply to take further steps to support development of local procurement, capability and employment in Burkina Faso.

“The success of these partnerships is built on trust, reliability, and the outstanding capabilities of our team.”

Situated in the highly prospective Houndé Greenstone Belt, the Mana complex transitioned into a fully underground operation across three declines in 2024.

Endeavour is currently trying to increase Mana’s mine life to more than 10 years by expanding the complex’s underground deposits and evaluating local open pit targets.
