Mineral Resources (MinRes) has officially opened the doors to its early learning centre located next door to its headquarters in Osborne Park, Western Australia.
Open from Monday to Friday, the daycare centre will operate at a capacity of 106 children aged from six weeks to five years.
The facility includes four large outdoor environments with playgrounds inspired by the equipment used at MinRes’ iron ore and lithium mines in the Pilbara and Goldfields regions of WA, an on-site kitchen with an in-house chef, and a parenting room.
The centre is supported by MinRes’ team of professional educators and teachers and operates on a cost-neutral basis with lower pricing compared to other external early learning hubs.
The facility employs a play-based curriculum that aligns with the Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority’s ‘National Quality Standards’ and ‘Early Years Learning Framework’, with an emphasis on community and relationship-building.
Children will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities such as cooking, yoga, and the arts.
According to MinRes, the early learning centre is the first on-site early learning service in WA to be run in-house by an employer.
MinRes director people and safety Andrea Chapman said the centre makes it easier for working parents to find a work-life balance as they ease back into work after being on parental leave.
“This is the latest step in our ongoing commitment to provide world-class workplaces, investing in wellbeing initiatives that support our people to be their best,” Chapman said.
MinRes customer experience manager Jenna Reti detailed how the centre is helping her and her family.
“Having my daughter right next door to the office means I spend less time commuting to and from childcare and more quality time with my family,” Reti said.
“The caring and professional staff, along with the fantastic facilities, give me the peace of mind to focus on my job knowing she’s in great hands.”
Aside from early learning and creche, the centre also offers school holiday services for children up to 12 years old.
