With three cutting-edge electric vehicle models and a comprehensive ecosystem of services to serve the full urban logistics lifecycle, Flexis is transforming urban logistics.
With its state-of-the-art SDV electrical architecture and common EV-native skateboard platform, Flexis presents three vehicle variants designed to address the urban logistical issues facing Europe. The first customer deliveries are scheduled for 2026 at the Renault Group’s Sandouville facility, which is currently approaching industrialization.
With the support of 10 Letters of Intent from companies like DB Schenker, HIVED, and Colis Privé across France, the UK, and Germany, Flexis is set to revolutionize sustainable last-mile deliveries.
Flexis, a joint venture between the Renault Group, Volvo Group, and CMA CGM to create a new generation of vehicles for urban logistics solutions, plans to for these vehicles to go on sale in 2026. Based on a common EV skateboard platform with “SoftwareDefined Vehicle (SDV) electronic architecture,” the company is focused on creating “100% electric, 100% connected, 100% urban-centric, and 100% customizable urban logistics vehicles.”
They just showcased the embedded software and services they have created to help logistics providers effectively electrify fleets and address increasing urban logistics challenges. Below are more details on the initial vehicle concepts.
The Step-in Van
“The Step-in Van features a unique silhouette in the medium van segment, featuring front sliding doors and a rear shutter door for loading optimization — a first for the European market. The van features easy access between the cockpit and cargo areas with 1,90-meter height clearance, allowing drivers to comfortably walk upright throughout the vehicle.”
The Cargo Van
“The vehicle is adapted to urban last-mile delivery needs and beyond with an easily convertible box, capable of integrating different widths, heights, and beds, as well as modular solutions including, but not limited to, refrigerated boxes.”
The Panel Van
“The urban-proof, multi-purpose design addresses all limitations of current market offerings, including superior maneuverability and an overall height of 1.9 m, enabling it to enter underground city parking and garages easily.”
“Embedded solutions for connected logistics”
In addition to its line of electric vehicles, Flexis is creating a range of business-to-business (B2B) services to assist logistics operators in reducing their carbon footprint and increasing operational effectiveness. The open platform on which the Flexis fleet management solutions are built makes use of the Software Defined Vehicles’ capabilities and allows the vehicles to be smoothly integrated into the digital ecosystems that are already in place at customer operations.
Flexis says that these services are centered around: 1) uptime management, 2) operational efficiency, 3) energy and charging infrastructure management, and 4) financial services. They “will be delivered through:
- A central digital platform for Flexis clients called ‘FlexE Connect.’
- Existing service networks across Europe supported by Renault Group and Volvo Group.
- A Customer Operational Centre, offering clients a team of experts dedicated to conducting real-time fleet monitoring, providing diagnostics, making proactive recommendations to customers, and sharing personalized performance reports.”
Preparing for commercialization in Europe — initial customers in France, UK, and Germany
The business revealed that it has signed its first 10 letters of intent (LOI) with logistics companies in France, Germany, and the UK, including DB Schenker, HIVED, and Colis Privé — notable companies.
In the next three years, there may be demand for 15,000 vehicles, as indicated by these LOIs. Flexis says that it and its clients will work together to develop solutions that meet their objectives.
“The first LOIs are the result of our co-creation approach and deep understanding of the electrification and efficiency solutions we have developed at Flexis,” explains Philippe Divry. “We are proposing an offer that allows us to answer the needs of logistics players in a tailor-made way that is capable of meeting their sustainability, operational, and economical objectives. We are proud to accompany Colis Privé, HIVED, and DB Schenker.”
