New Zealand seems like the other side of the world, and is certainly a land and sea that many would love to explore. There is the timelessness of the water to experience, as well as the mountains and caves. Now, beginning at Auckland’s Viaduct Harbour, the Electric Hydrofoil Experience provides a memorable 40-minute ride and offers unparalleled silent and smooth water movement. The Kermadec is the world’s first hydrofoiling tourist vessel and the first entirely electric passenger ship to operate in Auckland.

Guests may learn about the world-class Kiwi foiling technique while enjoying refreshments onboard. Additionally, the compact setting allows for stories about Auckland and nearby islands, enhancing the learning experience. Enjoy panoramic views of Auckland’s skyline, the Harbour Bridge, and the stunning Waitematā Harbour waters from above the sea.

You may now reserve a seat in advance to be one of the first people worldwide to ride the brand-new Electric Hydrofoil Ferry, “Kermadec,” which just started operations on December 9, 2024. Up to eight passengers can travel in luxury and sustainability on Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf on an all-electric, emissions-free, hydrofoiling ferry. Today’s public ticket release follows the electric hydrofoil’s official maritime certification in November, which made it the first tourism experience of its sort to be commercialized. The hydrofoil was first introduced in early 2024 by New Zealand designers and builders Vessev.

This is a means to begin revitalization of the luxury industry on our planet’s pristine waterways. The harm that upscale cruises and similar activities do to the seas that we cherish has been discussed enough.

“This is a significant milestone in Fullers360’s decarbonisation journey and marks a new era in high-end tourism and on-water experiences. It’s a great step for green technology and our local tourism industry; one I believe really puts New Zealand on the map and further cements us as leading innovators,” says Horne.

“This is a proud moment for us and a major milestone for marine sustainability. Fullers360 is the first major ferry operator in the world to incorporate a certified electric hydrofoiling tourism vessel into its fleet. That is an incredible achievement for the team at Vessev, Fullers360, and for New Zealand innovation as a whole. We’re so excited for the new year when passengers will be able to share in this world first experience.”

“Fullers360’s Electric Hydrofoil Experience runs from January through March, with timetabled services available Wednesday to Sunday, and charter options offered throughout summer. Advance bookings are now available for 29 January 2025 onward for a limited time. Anyone wanting to secure a seat on the Electric Hydrofoil Experience are encouraged to book their tickets now to avoid missing out.”
