London, December 11, 2024, (Oilandgaspress) ––– The Porsche Charging Planner makes long-distance electric driving a real treat. The system not only knows where all of the fast-charging stations are, but also plans the optimal route, including charging stops – offering Porsche drivers a stress-free journey with the desired energy reserve at their final destination.
Reach your destination with the fewest charging stops possible
But what else can the Charging Planner do – and how does it work? The system is a standard feature of the My Porsche app and the Porsche Communication Management (PCM) of all-electric Porsche models, where it’s integrated into the navigation. When activated, the intelligent tool will plan charging stops for the route selected so that you can reach your destination with the fewest and shortest charging stops possible. The user’s driving profile is one of the factors analyzed when it comes to estimating energy requirements with precision. Hence if the system has learned that the driver enjoys listening to music and traveling in a well-heated interior, it includes this in its energy consumption calculations. It also controls battery preconditioning to promote optimal charging performance during stops – up to 320 kW for the Taycan and a maximum of 270 kW for the Macan. The result is fast charging and shorter travel times.
The Charging Planner also automatically adds suitable charging stations and the required charging times there – taking real-time traffic information into account, of course. There’s also an update mechanism to ensure that newly opened fast-charging locations are continuously integrated into the database. During the drive, the system supplies the following real-time information in the route overview: the name of the planned charging station, the battery’s state of charge upon arrival, the estimated time of arrival, and the remaining distance to the charging station.
It couldn’t be any more convenient
The Porsche Charging Planner’s database includes fast-charging locations with a charging capacity of more than 50 kW, but drivers can also filter suggestions to search for fast chargers with at least 250 kW if you’re in a hurry. Charging stations can also be filtered according to providers. The system comes standard with a preference for fast chargers that belong to the Porsche Charging Service (PCS). The benefit is that many of these charging locations enable Plug and Charge – for automatic charging station activation and payment once the charging cable has been connected to the vehicle. It couldn’t be any more convenient. The driver can also specify the desired state of charge upon arrival at the fast charger or at the final destination. The Porsche Charging Planner can therefore be adapted to any journey and makes route planning a breeze – regardless of how far you want to go in your electric sports car.
