The Tesla Cybertruck, if it is anything, is unique. It stands out, a lot. It also has aspects to it that must make it very appealing as a police vehicle. So, it’s no surprise to find out that a police department, the Irvine Police Department to be specific, has customized a Cybertruck to be Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) program trucks.

The Irvine Police Department also thinks this is the first Cybertruck police vehicle in the country (or anywhere).

This police Cybertruck is not going to be used for patrolling the streets, but it can be used for responding to emergencies and helping the community as needed. But as a DARE vehicle, it’s largely about attracting attention. “For over three decades, our DARE officers have driven attention-grabbing and one-of-a-kind vehicles that never fail to turn heads and excite students.”

We did cover the “World’s First Tesla Cybertruck Police Vehicle” several months ago, but that was a retrofit option for sale from UP.FIT/Unplugged Performance, not a police department buying and retrofitting a Cybertruck as the Irvine Police Department has done. It’s not clear if they used UP.FIT/Unplugged Performance for this.

Here are pictures of the Irvine Police Department Cybertruck:

I assume we’ll see a lot more police Cybertrucks soon. If there’s any group of people I’d think the Cybertruck appeals to, it’s police teams.
